Ubuntu vs. Windows Vista
Is Ubuntu (Linux) ready for the desktop?
I haven't read it yet, but InformationWeek has done a comparison between Ubuntu and Windows Vista.
It's quite a long article, but you can skip right to the conclusion. :-)
Update 1:
Ubuntu News also has a take on the comparison.

Yes! Nero Burning Rom for Linux!
This is so sweet! My favourite piece of software for writing CD/DVD's, Nero, is available for Linux as a beta.
Found at Norway's digi.no.
Update 1:
I just grabbed and uploaded a screenshot of Nero Linux Beta taken on my Ubuntu 7.04.

How to install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)
This worked like a charm for me.
Type the following in your terminal and hit the enter key:
sudo aptitude install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts
I'm on Feisty right now, and JRE is working as it's supposed to.

Testing Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)
Right now I'm testing the live CD version of open source operating system Ubuntu in the new 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) beta.
I haven't had the time to test it thoroughly enough — but so far it looks nice… new features and accessories, sweet :-)
In case you don't know what a "live CD" is, it means that I can test the operating system without installing it. You just need to do these three things:
- Make sure, that your computer boots from the CD-ROM drive before the hard drive, this can be done in the BIOS — and if there's no CD in the drive it'll boot normally
- Download the operating system and burn it to a CD
- Place the CD in your CD-ROM drive and reboot the computer
This doesn't affect your computer in ANY way — it's a risk free opportunity to test Linux :D
