Angry Danish iPhone fans threatens to let the iFists do the talking

Just read at Dorte Toft's blog (which you have to follow if you understand Danish and like techology :-)) that employees in Telia here in Denmark are getting threatened.

Yes, threatened. As in »I'll beat you up«. That's what the head of PR here in Denmark is saying in Danish podcast KommunikationsCast. Both he and other Telia employees have been threatened, and some people has told him, that they know where he lives.

The reason for the threatening? The pricing scheme that Telia has chosen for the Apple iPhone in the Danish market. Admitted, it is expensive but how do people imagine dropping the cost by punching people?

I guess it shows that the iPhone is so much more to some people than just a phone. Maybe a little to much?

Danish bookstore goes mobile

The largest online bookstore here in Denmark, Saxo, has just announced that it will be launching a mobile version of their shop, designed for, you guessed it, the mobile phone.

This is no doubt a sign that the mobile web is growing, and the iPhone and Android phones are no doubt going to fuel that tendency. Which is good, really good.

The Saxo mobile shop works in the simple way that you type "Saxo" into an SMS message and send it to 1230. This will send you a link for the mobile shop. During my short test, however, I was only able to purchase a single book (entitled "Cash"), which is probably the result of some kind of error or the fact that it's still in an early/test phase.

The mobile shop is done in corporation with DIBS, which is one of the largest providers of secure payments here in Denmark and their solution is already used by a variety of Danish online shops, and Cellpoint Mobile, who delivers the mobile platform.

So, as soon as the shop will be fully functioning I'll be sure to have e good look at it. Image, now you can buy that particular book while your friend is recommending it to you. Talk about impulse shopping :-)

Can't add new feed in Jaiku — servers taking a pounding?

I'm trying to add the feed from onlineminds.dk (which I co-run with Kim Elmose) to my Jaiku account, but I get a "Page not found" error:

Whoa! Who turned up the heat? Servers are running a bit hot right now, please try again in a couple minutes.

Could this be because of the Jaiku hype after Google bought it? I hope not :-)

Update 1 @ 22:25
Great — it's working now! No questions asked… ;-)

Google announces Jaiku acquisition - cut and paste?

Google itself has now officially announced that it has bought Jaiku.

Interesting thing though.. when you look at the blog entry in the blog and in the feed, you'll see a difference:

From the blog:

[...] We plan to use the ideas and technology behind Jaiku to make compelling and useful products. [...]

From the feed:

[...] We plan to use the ideas and technology behind Socialite to make compelling and useful products. [...]

A minor detail, I know ;-)

Google buys Jaiku

Apparently Google has bought microblogging service Jaiku, the Jaiku team writes:

Exciting news: Google has bought Jaiku today.

What does that mean? First and foremost, we’re of course continuing to support our existing users. So fear not: your Jaiku phone, the Web site, IM, SMS, and API will continue to work normally.

The acquisition means that Jaiku has closed for new user signups for the moment — although existing users can invite their friends.

This is great news for Jaiku users and could be Jaikus big break — as far as I've head, Twitter is by far the most popular microblogging service in the US — although Twitter really can't be labeled as 'blogging' since others can't comment on the microposts — Jaiku supports this.

Jaiku is a service that gives you 115 characters per micropost. You can either post from the Jaiku website, your instant messaging client (for instance Google Talk or from your cellphone. More about Jaiku.

New cell phone - SGH-U600

So I decided to get a new cell phone, since I decided to use my Nokia N95 for work (for all that lovely MMS'ing ;) ).

I chose the U600 phone from Samsung after doing some research and finding out that it's one of the cell phones with the highest praise at the moment.

Samsung SGH-U600

So far the phone is very nice.

It's a slide phone, just like Nokia's N95, E65 and so on, and the phones on the "outside" aren't really buttons but touch sensitive areas — very nice! :-P

Apparently it has a feature that displays different background images throughout the day — even though that's not the feature I've been crying out for ;-)

The phone is incredibly flat (10.9 millimeters) and has a 3,2 mega pixels camera (probably not like the Carl Zeiss 5 mega pixels camera on the N95..!) The display is VERY satisfying with great colors and decent size.

This is no doubt one of the best first impressions, I've ever had with a cell phone — which is why I chose to blog it.

For great resources regarding the N95, you need to check out the n95 blog.

(( I am in no way connected to Samsung, and I've paid for the phone (both U600 and N95) with my own money, so no — this is not an advertising blog post - this is a blog post about how I bought me a new phone and really like it ;-) ))

Suggestion: Secure login at Bloglines

I use Bloglines — a lot.

But whenever I'm on a wireless network, that isn't secured or encrypted I refuse to sign in to services that doesn't have a secure login (with https:// in the address bar), since everything transmitted unencrypted via a wireless network may be visible to anyone else on the network.

This means, that I can't sign in to Bloglines as much as I want — especially when I'm currently without internet at home. The result: 7461 unread items.

The login for Gmail is secure, so why not Bloglines?

And how will standardisation issues and interoperability be addressed, e.g. for consumer devices?

Zune Phone in the making?

Apple lunched an iPhone and now CrunchGear has been tipped, that ZunePhone is in the works - "Zune" is the name of Microsoft's portable media player.

Does this indicate that the market for dedicated portable media players is starting to die? Me thinks.
