Firefox "killing" Flock before version 1.0?

Apr 4th, 2007 @ 21:31

Michael Arrington reports over at TechCrunch, that Mozilla apparently is going to build social networking into Firefox.

As Arrington also writes, this is not so good news for Flock, a social browser built on Firefox who markets itself as a browser with social features integrated.

It sure is going to be exciting to see how the Mozilla folks will incorporate social feature into the Firefox browser, I for one just hope that they don't overdo it. What made Firefox great in the first place, it you ask me, is it's "to the bone" idea which means, that if you want more features you can always add various extensions…

But on the other hand, I've missed some of my Firefox extensions when using Flock…

I am not sure how big of market chunk Flock has. Take for example Netscape, they seem to have their own following and don't seem too concerned over Flock. Now, I am not sure how big of a following Flock has compared to say Netscape. The only reason I use Flock is I like its built-in RSS Reader. I use to use it for Blogging and even dragging pictures into my Photobucket, but I so rarely do that.

Funny you mentioned Fx extensions in Flock. Take a look at this: Flock Can Convert Your Fx Extensions

Yeah, no doubt that Flock doesn't have a very big market share, and I don't use Flock as much anymre as I did when it had just been released for the first time.

Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to check it out!
